About
Balance. This is something I am constantly striving for more of in my life. As much as I would love to stay home every day eating cupcakes and gazing into my husband’s eyes, I have work to do. My husband and I own our own business which keeps us very busy. So, in my rare free time I like to explore my more crafty side. I love to bake, cook, sew, knit, garden, shop, travel, and so much more. So, I’ve decided to share my part-time homemaking adventures with you.
So many things go into making a happy home for you and your family. By deconstructing your home and life balance can be found. So, what is a home composed of? I think that for everyone’s home it is a bit different. We all have different priorities and passions. But, I believe the basics are: shelter, food, clothing, unselfish love for one another, and love for the Lord. Your approach to each of these areas is what makes life fun.
In our home food plays a big role! We love to eat and I love to cook it. I especially love baking (the chemical reaction amazes me every time). But, there must be a balance. If we ate homemade cinnamon rolls every day we wouldn’t be able to fit through the door. So I must take our favorite recipes and make them lower in calories and higher in nutrients. I make low calorie versions of our favorite meals multiple times a week. We also follow all this eating with lots of exercise.
I also take a lot of pride in making my home a cozy and secure place that people want to visit and my husband wants to come home to. I’ve spent a lot of time decorating and sewing curtains and pillows to fill the rooms. I’ve also spent many hours refinishing and painting old furniture. I love furniture that has a story.
This spring we created our first vegetable garden. We learned a lot about soil, and weather, and bugs. We put a lot of hours into our garden, but we didn’t have to buy produce all summer. Victory!
As my ADD kicks in I take on new projects and learn new skills, dragging my husband along with me. Now I can share my adventures with you. Hope you enjoy the ride!
